Though these later recordings don't quite have the magic of the originals, Wagoner's evergreen vocals are a guaranteed stamp of authenticity. The Porter Wagoner Show (TV Series 1961–2016) cast and crew credits, including actors, actresses, directors, writers and more. Before she rose to fame, Parton was a singer and co-star in the Porter Wagoner Show, beginning in 1967. At that time, Wagoner was the more famous of the pair. He welcomed Parton as an equal teammate and the two wrote and recorded songs together. But by 1974, Parton wanted to strike out on her own, reported The Tennessean. That special someone was Porter Wagoner, who had a famous show called The Porter Wagoner Show.

His last appearance in the charts was 1980. He had chart topping singles covering a span of 26 years. In 1960, he started the syndicated "Porter Wagoner Show" which aired for 21 years and was a key factor in popularizing country and gospel music across the United States. Known as Mr. Grand Ole Opry, Wagoner charted 81 singles from 1954–1983.
