Marcus Wallenberg Jr. was deep state operative, head of the Wallenberg family which controls 40% of the Swedish economy, and chairman of the Federation of Swedish Industries. He was a very regular visitor to the Bilderberg , only rarely skipping a meeting. Marcus Wallenberg's work during his 45 years on Ericsson's board of directors - he resigned as chairman in 1977 - was extremely important in strengthening the company's international position. This applied to everything from the negotiations in Finland in the 1930s to preparations for entering the US market in the 1980s. Marcus "Dodde" Wallenberg Jr. (5 October 1899 – 13 September 1982), was a Swedish banker and business manager. He was the most influential representative for the Swedish industrial tradition and Swedish business’ during the 20th century. Peter Wallenberg Jr is Chair of the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation and Wallenberg Foundations AB. He is also involved in the engineering industry, private equity and the hotel business as Director on the boards of Atlas Copco, Scania and EQT, and as Chair of Grand Hôtel Stockholm.

The resignation opened a seat on the bank's board of directors to Peter Wallenberg Sr., younger son of Marcus Wallenberg Jr.. Marcus Wallenberg Jr. pushed through a merger agreement between Stockholms Enskilda Bank and rival Skandinaviska Banken in 1971.
